Description
Responsibilities- Develop perspectives on inflation, growth trends, monetary policy, and capital flows across major economies, translating these into actionable rates and FX strategies for global fixed income portfolios.
- Contribute to the design and management of portfolios including government bonds, interest rate futures and swaps, FX spot and forwards, and related derivatives, ensuring alignment with mandates, benchmarks, risk budgets, and liquidity requirements.
- Generate investment ideas and execute trades to express views on duration, yield curves, inflation breakevens, and currency positions.
- Monitor portfolio exposures and performance using metrics such as duration, curve positioning, tracking error, and stress testing; recommend and implement rebalancing when appropriate.
- Conduct country-level analysis of central bank policy, fiscal conditions, bond market dynamics, and balance of payments, applying insights to portfolio decisions.
- Produce clear performance reports, attributing returns to factors such as duration, curve, currency, and carry.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, operations, and compliance teams to ensure precise execution and adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards.
- Enhance and maintain dashboards and valuation models (curve analysis, FX tools) to support investment and trading decisions.
- Prepare market commentary and client-facing documents that explain rates and FX outlooks and current fund positioning.
- Ensure strict adherence to MPF guidelines, internal risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements; assist in promoting fixed income products and new mandates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience managing, co-managing, or supporting rates and FX portfolios in asset management, or trading rates/FX in investment banking.
- Strong technical expertise in government bonds, interest rate futures, swaps, cross-currency swaps, FX spot and forwards, and basic options structures.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Bloomberg, Tradeweb, and other market/trading platforms; programming skills (e.g., Python) are advantageous.
- Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, with the capacity to convert macroeconomic insights into clear trade ideas and portfolio strategies.
- High accuracy in trade execution, derivatives structuring, data handling, and reporting.
- Sound judgment, disciplined risk mindset, and professional integrity, with a strong appreciation of model risk, liquidity risk, and tail events.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese is an advantage.
