Description
The *Financial Analyst II* serves as a key financial resource supporting strategic and operational decision-making for *Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH)*. This* position based in Temple, Texas*, provides financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and decision support to help advance organizational goals and support efficient, cost-effective operations. This role partners with finance, operational, and clinical leaders to deliver data-driven insights, evaluate financial performance, support capital and operational planning, and provide recommendations that influence business strategy. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, advanced technical and financial modeling expertise, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations. *Essential Functions of the Role* * Provides financial analysis and consultative support to administrators, department leaders, and operational stakeholders to support sound financial and business decisions. * Prepares and manages operating and capital budgets for assigned areas. * Develops and maintains five-year financial operating forecasts, including statistics, payer mix, reimbursement, and capital planning assumptions. * Conducts financial analysis and prepares business cases for capital acquisitions, projects, new services, and strategic initiatives; presents and helps justify findings and recommendations. * Performs ongoing budget-to-actual revenue and expense variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. * Develops, analyzes, and interprets both standard and customized financial and management reports. * Prepares written and verbal analyses of departmental operating efficiencies and presents recommendations to management and leadership. * Develops operating pro formas for new services, projects, and capital requests. * Provides financial analysis and recommendations related to lease-versus-buy decisions and other investment opportunities. * Serves as liaison between assigned departments and other finance support functions across BSWH. * Partners with finance, operational, and clinical teams to ensure data accuracy, sound assumptions, and informed decision-making. * Supports development and delivery of financial training or education for stakeholders as directed. * Identifies opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced reporting efficiency using financial and technical tools. * Maintains professional growth through ongoing education and staying current with healthcare finance trends, practices, and tools. *Key Success Factors* * Strong financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling capabilities. * Advanced proficiency in *Excel*, including complex formulas, pivot tables, modeling, and data analysis. * Experience with financial systems, reporting tools, and technical software applications (e.g., ERP, decision support tools, data visualization or analytics platforms) preferred. * Knowledge of healthcare finance, budgeting processes, reimbursement concepts, and operational analysis preferred. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations. * Ability to communicate financial concepts effectively to leaders and non-financial stakeholders. * Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
